All Physical Therapy grant and fellowship applications are subjected to a rigorous peer review process. Applications are critiqued on scientific merit and relevance to NBDF research priorities. Applications are reviewed and scored in terms of significance, approach, innovation, investigator, and environment. Each application is reviewed by a confidential committee of peers using a standardized rubric.  Their recommendations are forwarded to NBDF’s Research Department for final determination and approval.

Eligibility

The objectives of the Physical Therapy Fellowship  is to provide support for clinicians who demonstrate a commitment to the bleeding disorders community supporting NBDF's goal to develop outcome related data.  The Excellence Fellowship Grants seek applications from any of the three main disciplines of treatment centers.

It is expected that the fellowship will provide support for a physical therapist currently employed or interested in hemophilia care to conduct physical therapy research or clinical projects related to the care of patients with bleeding disorders. Affiliation with a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center is required.

Current topics of interest may include but are not limited to the following: development of clinical pathways, physical therapy protocols, physical therapy utilization, measurable outcome studies, rehabilitation programs, use of modalities and other interventions commonly used by physical therapists in the treatment of patients with bleeding disorders.
