The education component will provide valuable resources regarding diagnosis, genetic testing, parenting skills and social support to increase the health of affected children and themselves. The development of peer support system and the pairing of families and youth to develop one-on-one relationships that will carry forward after family camp as families can communicate via email, social media and phone for support and advice. This program will provide a support system in relationship to dealing with emotional stresses of taking care of a child with a bleeding disorder. Our volunteer team consists of medical professionals and peer educators that have already committed to facilitating and organizing our Family Camp in 2020.
