Katherine Bush Katherine Bush, MSW, LCSW, earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. She has prior work experience as a case manager, outpatient therapist, residential treatment therapist, and behavior specialist. Katherine joined the HTC in 2017 and has been enjoying getting to know the patients ever since. Katherine is one of the co-directors of Camp Hot-to-Clot, helps facilitate the Consumer Advocacy Committee, and also coordinates a teen group together with the Western Pennsylvania Bleeding Disorders Foundation. When not working, she enjoys spending her spare time knitting, cooking, spending time with her husband, and playing with her two sons.

 

Shanna Garcia Shanna Garcia is the mother of a 21-year-old son with severe hemophilia A.  Since his diagnosis in 2004, she has been active in the bleeding disorders community, serving as a chapter board member in both Texas and Illinois.  She joined the Texas Central staff in 2023 as the Director of Development and Outreach.  Eight years ago, she and her family faced an uphill battle when her son needed long-term, 24/7 mental health care provided by a residential treatment program.  She currently serves on the BD-SUMHAC Core Committee and the Texas State team.
