Joan Cox Gill, MD, a dedicated clinician and researcher and Medical Director of the Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders Center of Wisconsin, passed away on May 9th, 2018.
Dr. Gill had a long and distinguished career in pediatric hematology. She received her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1976, where she completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric hematology. During her career, she served as Director of the Comprehensive Center for Bleeding Disorders based at Blood Center, was a Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and was a founding member of the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS). In addition to her work as a talented clinician, she also conducted pioneering research in hematology, thrombosis, HIV/AIDS, and von Willebrand disease.
