Effective advocacy requires understanding the issues. NHF’s homepage was recently updated to include a more comprehensive advocacy section. This section includes information to help the community stay informed and better respond to emerging issues, such as links to response letters to state and federal policymakers on preferred drug lists (PDLs), sole source provider contracts, Medicaid managed care and other health reform regulations.
In addition, it lists the following resources to:
- Assist consumers with healthcare coverage options in their state. Additional assistance is available at finder.healthcare.gov, which allows you to compare public and private options specific to your needs. It is a very consumer friendly Web site where you can pick and choose what information you feel is most useful, including price and type of plans available.
- Educate consumers using our very own “Personal Health Insurance Toolkit.” Included in the toolkit are the: NHF Glossary of Healthcare Terms, Health Plan Comparison Guide, Health Plan Comparison Worksheet and the Personal Health Experience Stat Sheet.
- Updated information on state hemophilia programs including: how they are funded, what they cover, how many people are covered and who to contact for assistance.
Keep updated on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act by visiting our healthcare reform page, and viewing the webinars and supporting documents developed in conjunction with the A-PLUS Coalition.
These are just a few of the tools you can find on NHF’s advocacy page. Additional information will be posted on a regular basis, so please visit often.
