The University of California at San Diego (UCSD) School of Medicine is currently offering a CME-accredited course called “Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Hemophilia.” The purpose of the two-and-a-half-day program is to provide hands-on training in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) as it relates to hemophilic joint disease. The program is being offered multiple times in 2017 (next trainings are scheduled for June 28-30, August 16-18 and October 18-20) at the Hemophilia & Thrombosis Treatment Center at UC San Diego in California.
More recently a one day CME-accredited teaching course for ultrasound-guided joint injections and aspirations was added for October 13, 2017 as well as CME-accredited online modules to introduce practitioners to basics of ultrasound, sonoanatomy and the use of power Doppler to determine the degree of joint inflammation. “Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Hemophilia” was created for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and physical therapists involved and/or interested in MSKUS as point-of care imaging tool to assist with diagnosis and treatment of joint pains in patients with hemophilia. Other healthcare professionals involved in hemophilia clinical care may benefit from this education program as well.
This course will feature leading MSK ultrasound experts covering ultrasound scanning, sonoanatomy, and sonopathology pertaining to hemophilic joint disease through interactive lectures, case presentations, roundtable discussions, and advanced MSKUS imaging techniques including MSKUS examination of hemophilic joints.
