NBDF’s education team unveiled a game-changing update to its "Steps for Living" initiative at the 2024 Bleeding Disorders Conference, marking a new era in patient education.

Lina Volland, Director of Education at NBDF, highlighted the need for change. "As our resource grew, so did the challenges in keeping it accessible and current," she explained. The old website struggled with inconsistent content and navigation issues.

Senior Manager of Education Natalia Winberry led the redesign effort. "We didn't just update; we reimagined," Winberry stated. The result is a comprehensive, user-friendly website launched in July.

Key improvements include:

  • Bilingual content (English and Spanish)
  • Coverage of ultra-rare and platelet disorders
  • Five main content areas: basics, treatment, health, everyday life, and resources
  • Tailored guidance for different life stages

The new platform, developed over several years, involved extensive rewriting and rigorous reviews. "We're providing a roadmap for living life to the fullest, despite the challenges of bleeding disorders," Volland emphasized.

Attendees' reactions were overwhelmingly positive. "This is a game-changer," one participant exclaimed. "I can finally find everything I need in one place!"

For the bleeding disorders community, navigating life's complexities just became a whole lot easier, thanks to this digital revolution in patient education.
