Dear Valued Partners,
Recently Dr. Len Valentino, President and CEO of the National Hemophilia Foundation, announced his retirement at the end of 2023 and the search for a new leader has begun. Under Dr. Valentino’s leadership, NHF has taken the lead on several initiatives, including a community-driven journey to shape the future of research for inheritable blood and bleeding disorders. The goal is to establish a clear understanding of the most pressing issues challenging people and families with bleeding and blood disorders. This broad effort continues to bring the experiences of people who live with bleeding and blood disorders to the forefront of transformational research and examine where research can have the most community impact.
NHF will continue to pursue this path that was started under the leadership of Dr. Valentino. The community has seen significant advancements, particularly in hemophilia, in treatment and care, thanks to new medicines, technologies, and improved diagnostics. However, we understand that there are still important issues to take on to address persistent gaps in access to treatment and care today, which is why we will continue to focus our efforts for the betterment of the bleeding and blood disorders community. In addition to the research focus, NHF will remain dedicated to addressing and preventing the complications of inheritable blood and bleeding disorders through education and advocacy, enabling people and families to thrive.
We're excited to kick off a CEO search process that will leverage the expertise of the search firm DHR and the board in finding our next CEO. Building on the work begun by Dr. Valentino, this search will be community-driven, seeking insights from leaders in the inheritable blood and bleeding disorder community, as well as NHF's staff, community leaders, and others in identifying critical capabilities in NHF's next CEO. DHR, an international search firm, led NHF's CEO search in 2019.
We thank you for your continued support as we search for a new President and CEO and celebrate our accomplishments under Dr. Valentino.
Sincerely,
Ryan Griffith
